Montrose Music Festival is unique as it has two popular elements, a ticketed headline act and a weekend long free festival.
The main aspect of MoFest is the “Free Festival”, across the town on Saturday and Sunday in different venues visitors will be able to see over 100 different gigs across a range of genres and styles all for free. The High Street event is the centre piece of the free weekend, with a full stage showcasing a small selection of the bands playing in other venues across the weekend, a selection of stalls to buy food and other items, and family friendly games and attractions. This makes the High Street a family friendly area and a great cross section of what the Festival is all about, promoting live music and community in Montrose.
In 2017 the High Street Event was marked as an alcohol free event, drinking is only allowed inside licensed areas (the venues) and the police will be in attendance to enforce the local bye laws regarding public drinking.
All bar two of the venues are within walking distance of the High Street, with the furthest two out being a simple bus or taxi ride away. This means the whole event is quick to navigate and see lots of different things quickly.
Available before and over the weekend itself are the programme and lanyard. The programme is full of information about the acts, venues, local businesses as well as the schedule of events. Either of these will be great souvenirs of the weekend and will let you plan your weekend out. These are the only place to see the full weekends schedule in one place so are highly recommended.
